Alstroemeria
Alstroemeria aurea
Description
Alstroemeria are commonly called Peruvian lilies with their lily like flowers. They come in many colors and the inner petals may have streaks or speckles of one or more additional hues. They grow from bulb-like tubers. Keep soil moist, but not soggy. Although they have no fragrance, they are commonly used in flower arrangements and have a sensational vase life of up to two weeks! Best with morning sun and afternoon shade. They are marginally hardy and may survive the winter if protected. Zones 7-9
