Creeping Pussy Willow

Salix nakamurana yezoalpina

Description

Also known as Japanese Ground Willow or Alpine Willow.  This ground cover willow grows to be between 6-10' wide, reaching a height between 1-2'.

This hardy & hearty ground cover has branches that get to be around 2" thick with exfoliating bark.  The foliage is silky when young and rounded almost leathery as the leaves mature. Originally from Hokkaido, Japan, this plant will do well in the rock gardens, as a ground cover.

Willows in general cannot tolerate drought conditions, this one is no exception.  Use where there is access to water or with regular irrigation.
