Cuphea / Bat-faced flower

Llavea

Description

Cuphea llavea is native to Mexico and is commonly called bat-faced cuphea or bat flower because each tubular flower sports a purple calyx and a pair of red ear-like petals that collectively resemble the face of a bat. The dense, bright green foliage provides a perfect backdrop for the masses of colorful flowers. Often used in hanging baskets, flower beds, and borders. Zones 10-12
