Elderberry, Black Tower

Sambucus nigra 'EIFFEL 1'

Description

Named for its upright towering growth habit and its deep purple (almost black) foliage, the Black Tower Elderberry is a real eye-catcher. Its pink blossoms make a great cut flower, and the blackish-red berries appearing in the fall can be used for wine or jam, or left for wildlife. Thrives in evenly moist, well-drained soil and is adaptable to drier soils once established.
