Filbert, Turkish

Corylus colurna

Description

TURKISH FILBERT (Corylus colurna - also known as Turkish Hazel) are medium to large scale shade trees (35'-45' tall) with a stately pyramidal shape and deep green, large summer foliage that turns bright gold in the fall.

They're tolerant of tough, dry areas, and best of all, they can handle sites with secondary water and alkaline, clay soils. Deeply furrowed and cork-like bark adds all season interest and they're hardy to Zone 4 as well.

If you're looking for a distinctive shade tree that will excel in northern Utah's often challenging environment, then look no further.
