Hornbeam, Frans Fontaine Columnar

Carpinus betulus 'Frans Fontaine'

Description

Valued for its rigidly columnar form and small ovate, rigid emerald green leaves that turn yellow in the fall, the Frans Fontaine Hornbeam is a delight in the landscape.  It stays more narrow than 'Fastigiata' and can be used as a hedge, screen or as a specimen tree in a small garden. Tolerates heat and drought once established.
