Description
Hollow green leafless segmented stems with back banding around the nodes Its ablitilty to take up high quantities of silica and minerals gives this plant the course texture and properties that are usful for scrubbing and polishing woods and metals hence the common name Scouring Rush. Evergreen in mild winters cut back in spring for fresh new growth. Grow in moist to saturated soil but do not allow water to remain above the crown of the plant (above of the root mass) for extended periods. Grows 24'' - 36'' tall and spreading. Dose not have flowers, instead reproduces by spores borne atop each stem in summer.Zone 4
