Ninebark, Burgundy Candy

Physocarpus opulifolius 'Podaras 1'

Description

Clusters of small white spring flowers are followed by subtle red fruit. New foliage emerges coppery bronze, maturing to burgundy in the summer. Exfoliating bark adds winter interest. It is adaptable to both dry and moist locations and should do well under typical garden conditions. It is tolerant of various soil types and urban pollution and even inner city environments. Ninebarks are selections of a native North American species.
