Mahonia aquifolium 'Compacta'


Description

A durable, low maintenance, evergreen shrub that works well in borders. The new growth is a reddish bronze color that turns to a glossy, deep green color as it matures. In the autumn, the foliage turns to a purplish red color making for a very impactful addition to winter landscapes. This shrub gets a bright yellow flower in the spring that turns into small black colored berries in the fall.


Slow growing. Height 4-5'. Width 3-4'. Zone 4b. Likes afternoonshade. Yellow flowers in spring followed by black berries in fall. A nice evergreen hedge for shade.
