Pear, Bartlett

Pyrus communis

Description

Originating in England, the 'Bartlett' pear is a sweet, juicy variety that turns from green to golden yellow when ripe. Excellent for fresh eating, cooking or canning. Showy white flowers appear in the spring. Harvest in August to early September when the fruit is still green to ripen off the tree. Partially self-fertile and makes a good pollinator for other pear varieties.
