Redbud, Western
Cercis canadensis var. texensis
Description
This multi-trunked tree provides year-long interest in small gardens as a specimen or as a shrub border. Masses of brilliant magenta flowers adorn its silvery-gray branches in early spring, giving way to long, purple-brown seed pods in the summer which creates the illusion of having a twice-blooming tree in the garden. Foliage starts as apple-green, then turns yellow and rust red in the fall. The dropping of leaves reveals the pleasing silver silhouette of this Redbud.- Botanical Name
