Seven-Son Flower, Tianshan (Temple of Bloom)

Heptacodium miconioides

Description

A plant collector's dream, Seven-Son Flower is a very unique, yet easy to grow tree with year-round interest. Hummingbirds and pollinators enjoy large clusters of fragrant white flowers in mid-to-late July. As the flowers expire, sepals persist and continue to elongate and turn bright red through fall. The tree's attractive peeling bark are the highlight in winter. Excellent choice as a specimen plant in the landscape.
