Description
Like their distant relatives Amaryllis these plants are grown for their large beautiful flowers. There are more than a 130 species. Their flowers range in color from white to deep pink and foliage from green to burgandy. In zone 6 and under treat as annual or bring indoors and grow as a house plant for winter. Likes moist soil or water 2'' deep. 'Hannibals Dwarf' is a fast growing variety with pink flowers. 'Sangria' has burgandy foliage and pink flowers.
